Second Variance Clarification

Montrose, CO – The Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment provided clarification this afternoon regarding the county’s second variance request. The below guidance is currently in place for Montrose County with the second variance request:

The variance application requests all of the following:

    • Public Gatherings: 50% occupancy or max of 100 people if indoors, 50% or 175 max people if outdoors
    • Unlimited Outdoor Gatherings: 50% occupancy or max of 175 people
    • Indoor fitness/recreation: 50% occupancy or max of 100 people

Authorization for currently prohibited activities such as sports tournaments and events, rodeos, fairs, festivals and parades, car, motorcycle and horse races

Sport tournaments and events: Variance not needed as  may be held, but most follow the guidelines for personal recreation

  • Rodeos, fairs, festivals and parades: Variance not needed as may be held in accordance with outdoor events requirements and guidance following the June 18th amendments to PHO 20-28
  • Car, motorcycle, and horse races: variance not needed as may be held in accordance with outdoor events requirements and guidance following the June 18th amendments to PHO 20-28
  • Bars: 50% or 50 people max, most follow restaurant requirements and guidelines, food service requirement removed.
  • Theaters: subject to following indoor event requirements and guidance, based on June 18thamendments to PHO 20-28, 50% or max 100 people
  • Restaurants: 50% or max 100 people, follow restaurant requirements and guidelines.
  • Offices: 50% or max 100 people
  • Manufacturing: 50% or max 100 people
  • Office gatherings: 50% or max 100 people
  • Worship: Indoors 50% or 100 people max, outdoors 50% up or up to 175 people max
  • Healthcare: 50% or up to 50 people, when providing services must wear medical mask and can only remove when social distancing
  • Personal Services: 50% or max 100 people subject to personal services requirements and guidance
  • Retail: 50% or max 100 people
  • Funeral Homes: 50% or 100 people, subject to indoor events requirements and guidance
  • Higher Education classrooms up to 50 people: Variance not needed, higher education of up to 50 people permitted in June 18th amendment to PHO 20-28, subject to higher education requirements and guidance
  • Summer Camps: limit to 10 indoors or 25 outdoors
